JOB OVERVIEW 
The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in shaping and sharing the organization’s story. This position leads the development and management of digital communications — including websites, e-newsletters, and social media — to strengthen community engagement and brand awareness. In addition, the Communications Coordinator designs compelling visual and written content across print and digital platforms, ensuring a cohesive and professional look and feel for all organizational materials. Working collaboratively with internal departments, this role turns ideas into creative campaigns and resources that inspire action and reflect the organization’s mission and impact.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
General Duties
  • Lead on the design, maintenance and updating of website (UnitedWay-Weld.org) including use of website analytics tools. 
  • Manage online giving platforms (company pledge portals), submission forms, job boards, events calendar, registration forms, etc. 
  • Manage the design and use of e-newsletters to constituents using Constant Contact.
  • Production of short videos for sharing electronically.
  • Strong copywriting and line editing skills with a keen eye for clarity, tone, and accuracy.
  • Design online and print collateral using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva for all organizational departments. 
  • Serve on event project teams providing communications support including development of invitations, mailing lists, materials, messages, program scripts, online registration, etc. 
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with assigned vendors. 
  • Become familiar with and maintain knowledge of communication and design trends. 
  • Become familiar with and maintain knowledge of aspects of printing and invoicing process (newspaper, magazine, radio, print shops, etc.).

  • Support and promote the mission, values, goals and objectives of United Way, including representing United Way in professional organizations and the community (as assigned). 
  • Support fundraising efforts of United Way and activities that support United Way. 
  • Support United Way annual events, disaster response, and other activities as assigned. 
  • Participate in staff meetings and in service opportunities. 
  • Contribute to organizational promotions including writing promotional copy, proofreading informational and campaign materials, participation in outreach, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills including group presentations, training, and one-on-one conversations.

  • Organizational skills, detail-oriented, and attention to deadlines. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player. 
  • Financial management, including managing an operational budget of $223k. 
  • Knowledge of CRM systems.   
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 
  • Associate’s degree in communications field and/or two years’ experience in communications-related work.   
  • Computer ability including Microsoft Office, WordPress, social media platforms, Constant Contact, Canva, Google Analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Graphic design experience.
POSITION INFORMATION 
  • Full-time, (40 hours) non-exempt 
  • Salary Range H4: 18.21-20.50 
    • Plus .72 per hour Spanish speaking differential, if applicable 
  • Supervisory duties: None 
  • Reports to: Director of Communications and Executive Support 
  • Eligible for remote work: Yes, limited remote after 90 days of employment with supervisors’ approval 
  • Background check required
